Drawing from his experience as a single dad, raising two children to adulthood and years of working with men, Craig has produced outstanding resources for fathers at all stages of their fatherhood journey. His first book “DAD – how to be the father your children need” is a South African best seller and is also available as an online course called the Ultimate Dad Course. Craig’s second book on fatherhood, “It’s a Dad! – every man’s guide to pregnancy, birth and becoming a father”, is an ideal read and preparation for expectant fathers.
Craig founded the non-profit organisation Father a Nation (FAN) in 2013 in response to the tremendous damage to society caused by the crisis of fatherlessness in South Africa. His belief that if we can heal men, we can heal the world, has seen thousands of men and their families touched by the work of FAN. To support his work with men in the fight against gender-based violence Craig has written a booklet called “No Excuse For Abuse” (eBooklet available free here) which unpacks the reasons men abuse and outlines the actions we need to take to put an end to gender-based violence.
Craig believes strongly that no boy is born an abuser and that the solution to toxic masculinity is healthy masculinity. To teach, promote and inspire positive, healthy masculinity he wrote a booklet called “The 6 Pack of Champion Virtues”. Both of these works have been used extensively in training and inspiring men to be excellent men, fathers, mentors and role models. No Excuse for Abuse and the 6 Pack of Champion Virtues are available as free online courses: www.fatheranation.co.za/noexcuse and www.fatheranation.co.za/sixvirtues
Father A Nation was commissioned by AB InBev in 2019 to roll-out the NO EXCUSE movement to communities around South Africa. Since then FAN has run programmes in all 9 provinces teaching, training, inspiring and transforming men to stand against any form of abuse.
For his work with men in communities Craig was awarded the 2019 GQ Humanitarian Man of the Year award.
