I sit down with GBV ambassador Cynthia Dinalane, a true hero from Tembisa who turned her own home into a shelter for abused women and children.

With no external funding, she has rehabilitated over 120 women, giving them skills, dignity, and a future. Cynthia shares raw, unfiltered stories of women (and men) she has walked alongside — seldom heard in public — and the extraordinary healing journeys she’s witnessed. I was deeply inspired by her courage and commitment: opening her home, funding the work herself, staying with survivors as long as it takes, and equipping them with real skills to stand on their own.

Together we talk about the transformative power of forgiveness, how unemployment and distorted culture fuel violence, what true masculinity looks like, how men can also be victims of abuse, and why communities must support both women and men to break the cycle.

Every one of us has the power to be a force for good. Let’s use it.

Note: This episode discusses sensitive issues and accounts of gender-based violence. It is shared for educational, documentary, and awareness purposes only, with the goal of prevention and healing. No graphic imagery is shown. Viewer discretion is advised.

“I was once a victim of GBV, and I don’t want anyone else to go through what I went through.” – Cynthia Dinalane
